Seattle Hardware Workshop

Stamp TEG was selected to participate in the Seattle Hardware Workshop, March 14th and 15th. We're very excited to be going and meeting a bunch of other great hardware founders and developers.

It should be a great event with a ton of great speakers and people to meet. We're hoping to learn a lot of things that will help in our transition from project to start-up. You can find out more about the event

We're working hard to have our new prototype all buttoned up and ready to demo, should the occasion arise. If it doesn't, at least we'll still be able to keep our smartphones topped up as we go throughout the day. While we have a good working prototype, our electronics are currently dev boards spread across the workbench. That helps us debug, optimize, and test very quickly, but is hard to transport safely.

So our mission was to integrate our boards into a temporary housing that we can use to show off our tech. Of course, the electronics will be fully integrated into the handheld Stamp generator once we're through the development phase, but for now we are packing them into a standalone box. In the pictures below, you can see the USB bulkhead that will provide power out to charge mobile devices (on the left) as well as the barrel connectors (on the right). One takes power in from the Stamp device, while the other takes power in from the wall charger. This allows you to charge the internal batteries from either heat when on the go, or from the wall before you leave home. The top of the box (not shown) is lexan, allowing you to see our dev boards and the status LED's.

What do you think? Though the whole box is temporary, we're pretty excited with how slick it turned out. We're definitely looking forward to heading to Seattle in a couple weeks with our device. In the meantime, stay in touch on Twitter
